"I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, and born of the virgin, Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hades. On the third day He rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen."

— The Apostles' Creed —

A Reformed church is a Christian church rooted in the teachings of the Bible and shaped by the Protestant Reformation. We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, and that Scripture is our final authority in all matters of faith and life.

Reformed churches emphasize the sovereignty of God in all things, the centrality of Christ, and the call to live every part of life under His Lordship. Our theology is often summarized in historic confessions such as the Westminster Confession of Faith and the 1689 London Baptist Confession.

On Sunday mornings, we gather for worship that is both reverent and joyful, shaped by Scripture from beginning to end. Our service follows a simple, ordered liturgy—meaning there is a thoughtful flow to our worship that helps guide us through prayer, confession, singing, and the hearing of God's Word.

You can expect the public reading of Scripture, congregational singing (including psalms and hymns), pastoral prayer, and the preaching of the Word. We also regularly confess our sins together and are reminded of God's grace in Christ.

Our aim is not to entertain, but to faithfully worship God in the way He has called us to—forming our hearts and lives week by week through Word, prayer, and song.

The best first step is joining us on Sunday and introducing yourself. You can also reach out through our Contact page and we will be happy to connect you with the right people.

We encourage our families to worship together on Sunday mornings, and therefore we do not provide a nursery. Our services are filled with the joyful coos and calls of God's covenant children. Jesus said let the children come, and so we bring them to our Lord together as his people.

We believe discipleship of the family is primarily the responsibility of the parents (Prov 22:6), therefore, we structure our worship services to honor that Biblical standard.

We gather for worship each Sunday morning at 10 am. We encourage you to arrive a few minutes early to get settled and prepare for worship.

We are located at 126 E Bellevue St, Opelousas.

Periodically throughout the year we host Sunday School classes at 9 am on Sundays and Bible Studies at 6:30pm on Wednesdays.

We believe the Bible teaches that the primary responsibility of discipling children is given to the parents, and they will be judged appropriately, therefore, we do not offer traditional youth groups or children's church. However, we do teach Biblical parenting on a regular basis, and our community of seasoned and proven parents is available for advice and counsel to any who would ask.

We are currently independent, but our theological beliefs allow for those SBC, PCA, RPC, OPC, Anglican and other similar convictions to worship together in covenant membership as God's people.

We believe most Bible translations are acceptable so long as they do not stray from the original message intended in the scriptures; however, we generally use the ESV for most reference purposes.

Christ Church Opelousas practices Covenantal household baptism, proselyte baptism, and believer's baptism.

The mode of baptism is left to the head-of-household, based on their theological convictions, and the affirmation of our elders.

A proselyte is someone who was not born of a household of faith, but converts to Christianity later on in life. Proselyte baptism is the act of bringing these converts into the Covenant Church.

We administer sprinkling, pouring, and immersion baptism in cooperation with one another.

Within the reformed tradition there are different takes on the mode and timing of the application of water to God's covenant children. We believe that all children of believing households are born into the covenant of God, and therefore the precise timing or mode of baptism can be left up to the conscience and theological convictions of the head-of-household with the affirmation of the elders.

In a contemporary Christian world where there are so many opportunities for Jesus's church to divide, we have decided this is not one of them and we choose to strive for unity.

Any Christian interested in pursuing membership should begin that process by making him or herself known to the elders to begin the membership process.

Any attender who has repented of their sins and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ for the first time should also make him or herself known to the elders so that we may rejoice with them and instruct them in the ways of faith.

We generally affirm both the Westminster Confession of Faith and the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. We do not hold either as an official Confession.

These Statements of Faith do not exhaust the extent of our faith, nor are they authoritative over our faith or the Bible but instead they provide insight and wisdom into the right application of faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.

We offer premarital counseling as well as pastoral counseling to all members of Christ Church Opelousas at no cost. We do not offer counseling to those outside of covenant membership.

We have Wednesday Night Bible studies periodically. We do not have official prayer meetings unless called specially by the Elders.

We practice the Lord's Supper every week at Christ Church Opelousas. We believe that this invitation to the Lord's Table is the high point and culmination of Christian worship. We also believe that supernaturally, through the elements of bread and wine, Jesus imparts to his church a blessing (1 Cor 10:16-21) to do the work that he has called his church to do, that is, ministry to one another and others, and the advancing of the Gospel to the world.

We offer wine and juice in our administration of the Lord's Supper. We believe wine was ordained by Jesus for this use and so we intentionally incorporate it as the element of right worship, however, we also provide grape juice for those who hold differing convictions of faith, positions of conscience, or covenants of abstinence.

Any professing Christian may take communion while visiting; however, any Christian practicing unrepentant sin is given a warning in scripture:

"For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died." — 1 Corinthians 11: 29-30

The Bible explicitly warns anyone wrongly taking the Body and Blood may be drinking God's judgment onto themselves, and therefore must examine themselves before doing so. The good news is, we can be forgiven:

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." — 1 John 1: 9

Any baptized and repentant believer in Christ may participate in the Lord's Supper.

We sing many a hearty Psalm and Hymn, often in traditional 4-part harmony, and we sing them loud.

We are governed by a traditional session of Elders.

There is no official "what-to-wear" list, however, we believe the Bible is clear that what we wear ought to be modest in our day-to-day lives, so the same can be said for Sundays.

The Bible also commands us to "Honor the Sabbath and keep it Holy." (See Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5) We therefore believe we ought to dress in a manner that is reverent to our Lord and King when gathering for corporate worship.

Yes. Across the street from the front of our sanctuary are parking spots for members and visitors alike to use.
